Petr Nikl - In Limbo
Opening on March 5th
According to Catholic tradition, Limbus is the name for the antechamber. The term limbo is used in English for sleep or even unconsciousness, while the English term limbo figuratively means an unclear situation along with complete uncertainty about what might happen. It is perhaps these three resonances of meaning that can best approximate the emotional space of Petr Nikl’s new exhibition, visually defined by a series of oil paintings created during the pandemic lockdown. On one side stands the resignation of beggars with dogs, on the other hand, there is the defenselessness of sleeping. Images of un/consciousness.
The exhibition is curated by Radek Wohlmuth.
