Martin Salajka (*1981) je jedním z nejvýraznějších expresivních malířů své generace. Tajemnou až snovou náladou obrazů proniká pod hladinu vody, do života v korunách stromů a do tmavé noci plné žhnoucích očí divé zvěře. Pomezím snů a realit pronikají démonické bytosti, havrani a lebky - dnes zprofanované symboly různých subkultur. K prázdnému plátnu přistupuje s absolutní volností, což mu umožňuje do nekonečna rozvíjet obrazový námět a kombinovat různé techniky. Výjimkou není ani obraz vzniklý na základě maloformátové grafiky rozvinuté do širšího příběhu.
"...V autorových květinových zátiších se odráží nervozita, energie a vibrace života v přírodě, stonky se blíží spíš trajektoriím, mezi nimiž problikávají asociace lebek, ostří cirkulárky a všudypřítomné oči strachu. I z přírodního prostředí vystupuje motiv zbloudilých duší, který je vysloveně či latentně prakticky všudypřítomný. Drama se odehrává už v barvě, bez ohledu na to, co se v obraze děje.
...Martin Salajka pracuje v otevřených řadách. Navazuje a rozvíjí starší myšlenky, nechybějí ani přímé návraty. Jeho umělecký výraz se proměňuje pozvolna a podmíněně, jak to odpovídá zkoumání jednotlivých námětů, osobní situaci a logice tvorby. Tak se například v poslední době z jeho pláten postupně vytrácely figury na úkor přeludů, tajemství a halucinačních prvků. Další důkaz, že i když Martin Salajka vychází ve své práci z toho, co je zjevné, ve skutečnosti mu jde o to, co vidět není, co je pod povrchem. A je v podstatě jedno, jestli se jedná o hladinu vody, krajinu města nebo myšlenky..."

Martin Salajka (*1981) is one of the most expressive painters of his generation. The mysterious, almost dreamlike mood of his paintings penetrates beneath the surface of the water, into the life in the treetops and into the dark night full of glowing eyes of wild animals. Demonic creatures, ravens and skulls - now infamous symbols of various subcultures - penetrate the border between dreams and realities. He approaches the blank canvas with absolute freedom, which allows him to endlessly develop his pictorial subject and combine different techniques. An exception is not even a painting created on the basis of a small-format print developed into a broader story.
"...The artist's floral still lifes reflect the nervousness, energy and vibration of life in nature, the stems are more like trajectories, among which flash associations of skulls, circular blades and the ever-present eyes of fear. Even from the natural environment, the motif of wandering souls emerges, which is explicitly or latently practically omnipresent. The drama is played out in colour, no matter what is happening in the painting.
...Martin Salajka works in the open ranks. He builds on and develops older ideas, not missing direct returns. His artistic expression changes slowly and conditionally, as it corresponds to the exploration of individual themes, personal situation and the logic of creation. Thus, for example, in recent times, figures have gradually disappeared from his canvases at the expense of illusions, mystery and hallucinatory elements. Further proof that even though Martin Salajka's work is based on what is obvious, he is actually concerned with what is not visible, what is beneath the surface.
